How to go about learning Cerner CCL?
I am trying to obtain a position in Healthcare – I.T. Support. But a lot of support tech jobs require knowing Cerner CCL. Its a bit conflicting what I am reading about Cerner CCL. It seems to be a report writing language, i guess like Crystal. Are there any books or freeware to download? Suggestions?
Thanks
CCL is nothing like Crystal. It is a highly proprietary programming language used to create reports, scripts, views etc. witin the cerner HIS. The various Cerner nets are written in CCL. There are many systems used by hospitals. If you’re looking for something universal and is needed by them all, I would focus on HL7 and interfacing. I’m a CCL programmer and I can only say it’s very hard to break into that and once you do master the language that’s pretty much all you’ll ever do. Right now Epic is what’s hot. I would try to get on with an Epic hospital instead of Cerner.
